The Boston College Center for Human Rights and International Justice seeks an Assistant Director for Programs, Outreach, and Development. The Assistant Director will work with the Center’s Director to develop research and teaching programs for the Center. The Center’s approach to human rights and international justice combines academic study, training programs, and applied research. Currently, the Assistant Professor of Pro Bono position is a part-time, non-tenure track faculty position. The term is for one year. At the end of the year, the position may be upgraded to a full-time, non-tenure track position. In this case, the successful candidate will be in position to compete for the full-time position. RESPONSIBILITIES: -Manage legal team on a daily basis, including assignment of projects, review of agreements, and administrative tasks -Negotiate and draft contracts relating to content licensing, content development, content distribution, marketing and promotions, and porting to different wireless devices and services -Provide legal and business advice regarding intellectual property, privacy and telecommunications issues and address and resolve wireless issues involving various departments, including business development, marketing, sales, production and operations, and throughout the Walt Disney Company QUALIFICATIONS: -Minimum of 8 years experience negotiating and drafting contracts for a law firm advising major corporate clients and/or corporate legal department and experience managing legal team -Minimum of 3 years experience negotiating and drafting contracts relating to the distribution of wireless content preferred -Experience with and understanding of wireless and/or online technology preferred -In-house experience at a wireless content provider, wireless service provider, carrier or MVNO preferred -Law degree from a top-tier, accredited law school required SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED: -Strong leadership and management skills -Ability to work independently -Strong drafting, negotiating, writing, and computer skills required, as well as the ability to problem solve in a business-friendly, creative manner -Must be organized, detail oriented and interact well with all levels of personnel -Proficiency with Microsoft Word -Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to work with minimum supervision
